AN IRANIAN MISSILE ENTERED NATO AIRSPACE AND NATO SHOT IT DOWN — THE WAR IS NO LONGER CONTAINED TO THE MIDDLE EAST

For the second time since Operation Epic Fury began on February 28, a ballistic missile launched from Iranian territory entered the airspace of a NATO member state.

NATO air defense systems intercepted the missile on Monday, March 10, above the Sahinbey district of Gaziantep in southern Turkey. A US destroyer stationed in the Eastern Mediterranean was responsible for the interception, according to a US official cited by the Wall Street Journal.

Debris from the downed missile fell on empty fields. No casualties were reported.

Turkey's Ministry of National Defence confirmed the incident and issued a warning to all parties, particularly Tehran, to avoid actions that could endanger civilian safety or destabilize the region further. NATO spokesperson Allison Hart confirmed the interception and stated, "NATO remains steadfast in its commitment to defend all Allies against any threat."

Iran did not immediately respond to the Turkish announcement.

THE WAR IN ITS 12TH DAY

The US-Israeli war against Iran entered its 12th day on March 11 with no sign of a ceasefire.

On March 10, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth warned that Tuesday would be "the most intense day of strikes" in Iran since the operation began. He outlined US objectives: dismantling Iran's missile reserves, neutralizing the Iranian navy, and permanently preventing the country from acquiring nuclear weapons.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the war would not end until Iran's "complete and unconditional surrender." In the same 24-hour period, President Donald Trump told CBS News, "I think the war is very complete, pretty much." He also said separately that the US will "not relent until the enemy is defeated."

Iran, according to state media, reported over 1,255 deaths and approximately 10,000 injuries from US-Israeli strikes. The Hengaw monitoring group estimated that 4,000 or more members of Iranian military forces had been killed. Seven US soldiers have died.

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told PBS that negotiations with the United States are "no longer on the table" after what he called "a very bitter experience." Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said China, Russia, and France have separately reached out to Tehran regarding a potential ceasefire, according to Iranian state television.

IRAN IS STRIKING ACROSS THE REGION

Iran launched new rounds of missile and drone attacks against Gulf nations on March 10. Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar all reported intercepting Iranian projectiles. In Bahrain, an Iranian strike on a residential area killed one person and injured several others, according to reports from the capital.

Qatar's Foreign Minister condemned the attacks as a "flagrant violation" of sovereignty.

Israel continued to face retaliatory strikes, including drones targeting facilities near Haifa, according to Iran's Tasnim news agency. Hezbollah, acting in coordination with Iran, intensified operations in Lebanon. Lebanese health authorities reported that more than 394 people had been killed in Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon over the past week, including 83 children and 42 women, according to the health ministry. Israel said it struck more than 250 Hezbollah targets.

A British warship, HMS Dragon, departed for the Eastern Mediterranean loaded with ammunition and supplies to protect UK military assets in Cyprus, after a drone struck the runway at RAF Akrotiri.

FOR THE PHILIPPINES

The conflict continues to ripple through the Philippine economy and the lives of overseas Filipino workers.

A Filipino seafarer remains missing after a tugboat was struck by missiles in the Strait of Hormuz on March 6. The DMW has declared the waters a "warlike operations area" and is monitoring approximately 6,400 Filipino crew members aboard vessels in the region.

Oil prices, which have surged since the start of the conflict, pulled back slightly to around $82 per barrel for Brent crude on March 10, driven partly by Trump's remarks suggesting the war could end soon. The Philippine Stock Exchange index rebounded 2.01 percent after losing P672 billion in the previous session, according to the Daily Tribune. The peso strengthened to around P58.89 from P59.50.

The relief is tentative. Iran's Revolutionary Guard has vowed that it will not allow "one liter of oil out of the region" if US strikes continue, and shipping through the Strait of Hormuz remains at 97 percent below normal levels.
